A geometric tribal looking Caucasian Shirvan rug from the early 20th century. Colorful geometric design on a navy blue field.
Antique Caucasian rugs from the Shirvan district village are still considered one of the best decorative and collector type of rugs from that the Caucasian regions/villages. Similar to Kazak carpets, Shirvan rugs often featured a limited palette of navy, crimson and ivory hues that emphasized the strong symmetrical and tribal aesthetic. This particular example has a design seen in antique Persian Heriz rugs.
