It is defined by its "shaped" silhouette with chamfered, lobed corners and its surface, which is entirely covered in hand-painted gold gilt scenes. The artwork depicts bustling narratives of life in imperial courtyards—tiny figures chatting in pavilions, crossing bridges, and strolling through gardens—all rendered in delicate gold brushwork against a deep black lacquer ground.
