An imposing wall mirror made in Northern Italy between the 1950s and 1960s, inspired by the decorative models of the Baroque and Rococo periods.
The finely carved solid wood frame features a rich decoration of acanthus leaves, scrolls, and plant motifs, with an elaborate, dramatic crest on top. The carving is deep and well-defined, a testament to the quality of Italian craftsmanship of the period.
The surface is finished with a dark patina enriched with mission gilding (mecca). The overall effect is that of a decorative architectural element, designed for stately spaces.
