This listing is for an early 18th century French portrait painting of a nobleman.
The painting depicts a man with powdered wig and red coat. His collar is lined with white lace.
The detailing is spectacular.
The painting has an inscription on the reverse that reads "peiut par h. Millot en 1717," which translates to "probably by H (Henri) Millot in 1717."
This oil on canvas painting comes in a later gilt wood frame. It has been properly conserved and relined. There is a later retailer mark on the lower of an Australian fine arts dealer that once sold this painting.
The framed painting measures about 35 x 41.25 inches
