Originally used on the opposite side as partially hollow, for storing rice. We turned it around and added two minimalist platform bases to produce this one of a kind log style beautiful bench. This impressive piece floats three inches off the floor. Finished with a natural oil revealing the unique wood grain. It’s all in the details. Both usable and sculptural. Full dimensions; 134” wide x 20” deep x 17” total height. This bench or art piece was hand made in the spirit of Wabi-Sabi, a Japanese philosophy that beauty can be found in imperfection and impermanence. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. A beauty of things unconventional. It is the opposite of vulgarity. The costs of achieving this kind of minimalism are seemingly inconsistent with its mission of aesthetic humility.
