Both usable and sculptural. We added mid century style legs in contrast to the top. Beautiful patina on this ancient wood. It’s all in the details. Full dimensions; 77.5” wide x 12.5” deep x 15.5” seat height x 20” back rest height. This bench or chaise was hand made in the spirit of Wabi-Sabi, a Japanese philosophy that beauty can be found in imperfection and impermanence. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. A beauty of things unconventional. It is the opposite of vulgarity. The costs of achieving this kind of minimalism are seemingly inconsistent with its mission of aesthetic humility.
