Left in the sun and sea salt air to naturally turn a grey tone revealing the beautiful wood grain. Full dimensions; 46” wide x 14” deep x 14” high with the two bases attached allowing the top to float or 12” high if the bases are removed and the bench is directly on the floor. This century old bench was hand made in the spirit of Wabi-Sabi, a Japanese philosophy that beauty can be found in imperfection and impermanence. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. A beauty of things unconventional. It is the opposite of vulgarity. The costs of achieving this kind of minimalism are seemingly inconsistent with its mission of aesthetic humility.
