Ben Shahn ( 1898 - 1969 ) was a Jewish Lithuanian born American Modernist artist. He is best known for his works of Social Realism, his left-wing political views, and his series of famous lectures. Shahn's desire to create narrative art that focuses on social and political justice have come to exemplify Social Realism and the art of social consciousness.

The artworks have a deep commitment to Humanism. Despite his rise in fame and prestige, Shahn remained committed to his audience and subject matter, he stood amongst the crowd and fought the same fight as they did. It is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age, light to moderate signs of handling, and some moderate visible wear to the slipcase sleeve.
