1980's Shiwan figure of an elderly white haired man perched on a rock with his wicker hat and drinking cup - probably after a day of work in the fields. He wears a kind expression and a beautiful coat with various gorgeous shades of blue and brown - see back photo.
Part glazed and part unglazed bisque.
Made in Shiwan, China, these figures are, known as a 'mud man', hand carved and painted. Shiwan is famous for it's pottery. The hand made and detailed figures or statues are used as garden or planter ornaments - or they can be used inside.
