This refined early 20th century French-style figurative sculpture depicts a young shepherd in period dress, elegantly posed beside a goat. The figure wears a wide-brimmed hat and tailored jacket, evoking classic European pastoral themes inspired by 18th and 19th century French art.
The sculpture is cast in heavy metal and finished with a warm bronze-toned patina. Fine detailing is visible throughout, including the expressive facial features, flowing garments, and textured rendering of the animal. The organically modeled oval base resembles natural terrain and enhances the rustic, romantic character of the composition.
The surface has been carefully cleaned and preserved with museum-grade Renaissance microcrystalline wax, enhancing depth and tonality while maintaining the original antique character. A striking decorative object well-suited for French country, traditional, or European-inspired interiors.
Estimated Year of Manufacture: Circa 1900–1930

Surface wear, patina variation, and minor abrasions consistent with age. A stable casting line/stress crack is present on one of the goat’s legs and along the rear base area, consistent with early 20th century metal casting and age-related material movement. The sculpture remains solid and structurally sound. Surface has been carefully preserved with museum-grade Renaissance microcrystalline wax. less
