The Royal Devon Yeomanry traces its roots to the late 18th century, originally formed as a volunteer cavalry regiment. By 1920, the regiment had been restructured into artillery units within the Royal Artillery, with the 381st (Thorverton) Field Battery taking its name from the historic Devon village of Thorverton.
