This rare fiber was once prized for its exceptional fineness, warmth, and natural luster.

The original, pure Ankara goat breed is now considered lost, largely due to environmental changes, hormone use, and modern agricultural practices. As a result, authentic filik fiber has become extraordinarily rare.
These small rugs, known as Filikli, were never produced for trade or profit. They were woven non-commercially by village families, using the hair of their own goats, intended solely for personal use within the household. There were no workshops, no market demands, no fashion-driven palettes only time, patience, and tradition.

Each piece reflects a way of life rooted in simplicity, wisdom, and respect for nature. The weaving process was slow and mindful, guided by experience and care rather than sharpness or speed. In today’s terms, these rugs are truly organic, both in material and spirit.
