Ruby Red Glass and Yellow Gold Filled Large Cufflinks
C. 1930s/40s - likely English Market.
A figural double knot design, with ruby gumdrop tips on each end.
Lovely open construction, two pieces "woven" together in a knot design. Clearly the work of a talented jewelry artisan.
Yellow gold filled frames are showing very light, even aging - a very pleasant patina that does not detract. Red glass gumdrops are bright and clear - a very nice touch.
Knots and tips are 27mm long/wide, and 22mm deep - typical sizing for a "classic" cuff link.
Presented in an attractive green velvet hinged box and crisp outer box - ready for presentation.
In keeping with Aesop's fable, Fox and Crow's Motto is "Beware of False Flattery!" So, with each listing we offer a true confession about the item...
Vintage cufflinks are a wonderful way for a gentleman - or a lady - to accessorize. They are that "pop of color" or, in this case, texture, that sets an outfit apart from all the others.
This pair is far more artisan than you might see in more "normal" links...the formed rope knots, the two separate pieces coming together, the lovely red...fantastic for a man or a woman.
My husband would say these can be "instant heirlooms"...create a story about how you came to own them and you'll be the most interesting person at the club cocktail party!
