A stunning majolica vase, with hand-crafted bulges enriched with bas-relief floral decorations, entirely hand-modeled on a lathe, then majolica-glazed and … Read more A stunning majolica vase, with hand-crafted bulges enriched with bas-relief floral decorations, entirely hand-modeled on a lathe, then majolica-glazed and hand-decorated, finally glazed, crafted and signed under the base with his initial "Z" and the place of production "Italy" in orange, by the renowned ceramist Ugo Zaccagnini in the early 20th century. Making a vase of this type on a lathe is particularly challenging, considering the extremely thick ceramic biscuit, and creating the various bulges on the belly is truly complicated. Also noteworthy is the extremely high-quality glaze used, which is extremely thick and compact—it's majolica, after all. Finally, the vase's Art Deco style is beautiful, with its bas-relief floral decorations and a speckled color scheme in various shades of green, reminiscent of Vietri ceramics.
