Founded in 1958 by Ragnar Kjartansson, Einar Eliasson, and Pétur Saemundsen, Glit was the only ceramics manufacturer in Iceland at the time.
The clay used for this piece is made from pumice sourced from Icelandic volcanoes. Its distinctive, rugged texture is achieved by incorporating genuine lava, which is collected from the edge of an active volcano. The vase pictured features a vibrant turquoise glaze that transitions into an earthy brown at the base and a glossy green at the top.
