This exceptional set of four vintage club armchairs dates from the 1950s and originates from the former private clubhouse of the National Bank of Belgium in Antwerp. Designed for a discreet, high-level institutional environment, these armchairs reflect a period in which quality, comfort and understated prestige were paramount.
The chairs are upholstered in their original green skai and are preserved in authentic, unrestored condition. The visible wear and surface nuances form a beautiful original patina, considered an essential part of their character and historical value. No restoration has been carried out, ensuring full material integrity and originality.
Crafted around solid wooden frames with sculptural armrests and balanced proportions, the design is refined yet confident — a hallmark of Belgian post-war institutional furniture. The result is a timeless presence that integrates effortlessly into both contemporary and classic interiors.
What truly distinguishes this set is its documented provenance. The armchairs are accompanied by photographic documentation of their original location and were acquired directly from a former employee of the National Bank of Belgium. Such verifiable institutional provenance is exceptionally rare and firmly positions this ensemble as collectible design with long-term value, rather than purely decorative furniture.
Offered as a complete set of four, these armchairs are ideally suited for a curated private interior, executive lounge, boutique hotel, or serious design collection. This is not merely a seating group, but a historical ensemble — a tangible fragment of Belgian mid-20th-century design and cultural heritage. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
