Johann Loetz (Attributed to)
Glass spinning top vase with an iridescent polychrome surface and a spiderweb decoration (a typical example of 'Phänomen' glass).
The Phaenomen decorations were developed around 1898 in response to the iridescent glass of Louis Comfort Tiffany, with the aim of creating something original and visually striking. They are characterized by intricate applications of colored glass threads, "combed" or dragged across the surface of the still-hot glass, combined with a metallic iridescent finish.
Loetz vases are almost never signed.
