Design & Form:
This exceptional vase features a sophisticated and technically demanding silhouette: a generous, globular body that transitions into a crisp, geometric square neck. Standing at 17 cm, it is a significant example of the "Lindus" decor. This pattern is a masterclass in early 20th-century abstraction, utilizing a vibrant palette of cobalt blue, ochre, and terracotta to create symmetrical floral medallions and repeating diamond motifs.
Historical Significance: The "Rooster" Era
The base features the iconic Rooster (Haan) symbol, the definitive hallmark of the Arnhemsche Fayencefabriek (1907–1934). Arnhem pieces from this period are highly coveted because the factory was a boutique operation founded by masters from the legendary PZH (Zuid-Holland) factory. They were known for thinner, more delicate earthenware and a more refined, "airy" painting style than their Gouda counterparts.
Condition & Quality:
The vase is in excellent antique condition. It displays a fine, uniform "crazing" across the glaze—a natural characteristic of 100-year-old Dutch tin-glaze earthenware that serves as a hallmark of its age and authenticity. The colors remain vivid, and the structural integrity of the square rim is perfectly preserved.
