It was designed by the celebrated ceramicist Bodo Mans (1935–2001), whose tenure at Bay is considered the factory's "Golden Age."

Mans’ design philosophy was deeply influenced by his time at the Madoura workshop in Vallauris, where he worked alongside Pablo Picasso. This avant-garde background is visible in the 99-45’s architectural relief patterns and daring use of color, bridging the gap between traditional German craftsmanship and Mid-Century Modernism.

The 'Fire & Sea' Aesthetic:
This particular vase features a rare and highly sought-after Pop Art colorway.
