Crafted from solid mahogany, it features a rectilinear frame enhanced with brass inlays that delicately accentuate the wood grain.
The flat, rectangular backrest, composed of horizontal slats, can be reclined thanks to an ingenious ratchet mechanism located at the ends of the wide, projecting armrests. These armrests extend beyond the backrest, creating a distinctive silhouette. A brass bar fits into the ratchet's notches, allowing the backrest's angle to be adjusted for optimal comfort.
The openwork arms with their vertical bars lend lightness and rhythm to the overall design, while maintaining a robust presence. The generous seat consists of a thick, square cushion upholstered in a burgundy striped corduroy fabric, which enhances the chair's warm, retro character. The elegantly contoured, tapered legs end in discreet casters, making the chair easy to move. When a matching footrest is added, this lounge chair transforms into a chaise longue, ideal for moments of relaxation.

The Morris chair, created in Victorian England and popularized by William Morris in the 1860s, is considered one of the first modern reclining chairs. Designed in the spirit of the Arts & Crafts movement, this chair, offering functional elegance, has left its mark on furniture history and influenced Craftsman styles in the United States.
