This antique chest … Read more An English painted wood chest of four drawers from the turn of the 18th and 19th century. This antique chest from England has a rectangular-shaped top, over a case which houses four drawers and a gently scalloped apron. It is presented upon four block style wooden feet. Each drawer has two recessed panels side by side; each fitted with two well-spaced fabulous brass pulls and at center, between each drawer panel, is an oval shaped escutcheon. The second drawer down is uniquely deep (perfect for thick sweaters!). The wood has a navy/slate finish with areas of wood showing through from beneath. This piece resembles a campaign chest and has a nice masculine form. This late 18th century English commode, with its paneled drawers and great hardware, will make a beautiful and functional storage piece. See less
