Luigi Massoni (born 1930, Milan) was a distinguished Italian architect, industrial designer, and influential figure in post-war Italian design. After beginning his career in 1954, Massoni gained recognition for his multidisciplinary work spanning furniture, industrial products, and editorial design. He served as president and head of architecture and industrial design for A&D from the early 1970s and contributed as editor and designer to Forme magazine beginning in the 1960s. Throughout his career, he collaborated with leading Italian manufacturers, including Boffi, Fratelli Guzzini, Nazareno Gabrielli, Gallotti & Radice, and Poltrona Frau.

For Poltrona Frau—a premier Italian luxury furniture maker—Massoni’s work was part of the company’s expansion in the 1960s and 1970s into modern, design-driven collections. Beginning his relationship with the brand in 1967, he contributed iconic pieces such as innovative beds and seating designs that reflected contemporary aesthetics while maintaining the company’s heritage of craftsmanship and quality.
