The hardcover art book with natural tan linen covered boards, embossed cover and spine titles, and dust jacket is published by Editions D'Art Albert Skira. Printed in Switzerland in 1958 at Imprimeries Reunies S.A., Lausanne. It features a monograph survey of the artworks of the artist Amedeo Modigliani, with compelling accompanied text authored by Claude Roy, transalated by James Emmons and Stuart Gilbert.

Amedeo Modigliani ( 1884 - 1920 ) was an Italian born Expressionist painter and sculptor of a Sephardic Jewish background. Known for portraits and nudes in a Modern style characterized by elongation of faces and figures. The outstanding unclassifiable artworks are widely considered to be some of the most important early Modern artworks ever created. Art works by Modigliani are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.

This beautiful intimate scale book traces the course of Modigliani's artistic career in more than 50 full-color lithograph print reproductions. His greatest and most provocative works are included, as well as many lesser known and equally as significant. Accompanying the illustrations is an authoritative and illuminating text providing essential facts and insightful criticism of Modigliani's development, thought and achievement.

The rare out of print 1st edition small format Modernist art book measures 6 3/4" W X 7 1/4" H X 1" D, with 136 pages. It features 56 hand tipped lithograph print color plates illustrations including a multi-page center fold out, list of color plates and bibliography.
