The vase decorated with two, large cartouches in the form of a scroll rolled up at the ends, which show an ornate floral cover. One cartouche depicts a qilin with a lion's head, dragon's feet and a fiery tail amid a rocky outcrop, plants and flowering bushes, and a garden fence with wispy clouds above. The other large cartouche depicts a qilin with a dragon's head, cloven hooves and a fiery tail, on a mountain path beneath a rocky outcrop with willow trees, a flowering peony and other plants, sending red, Taoist flames from its mouth to the flying, fenghuang above. The large cartouches are separated by archaic, spear shaped cartouches decorated with rock gardens, flowering plants and insects on a green speckled ground with flowering plants, butterflies and other insects. Both the rim and foot are accented with a band of floral, diamond lattices with four, quartered, oval cartouches of Taoist symbols. A blue, six character, Kangxi, reign mark within double circles is glazed to the inset of the unglazed base. Circa Republic of China era or later. The finely carved, traditional, Chinese, hongmu stand, decorated with lucky coins is included.
