This Mid 20th century (1953-55) piece of folk art or mingei Hakata sculpture is a low fired ceramic bisque finish doll of a standing and waiting young Geisha Maiko. Beneath the layers of patina is a tightly wrapped Maiko.
Wearing a Kimono and Obi and all the accompanying hair accessories her right hand, holds a traditional Japanese fan
She appears to be standing under a large willow tree (wide trunk, hanging branches)
