Very small strokes of oil on canvas board, relatively smooth to touch, with terrific color and light showing sensibilities of a classic master artist in contemporary close up. These realist paintings are small but have great visual heft and are grounded by these new but vintage-looking burled wood frames under glass. The artist’s statement: I paint small still life oil paintings, often of simple, seasonal things that catch my eye - fruit, flowers, and everyday objects that bring a little beauty into daily life. I work from life in a loose realist style, enjoying the play of light, colour and shadow, and the way these elements can transform something familiar into something quietly captivating.
Painting, for me, is a way of slowing down in a fast-moving world. It’s about taking the time to notice the subtle shifts in colour, the fleeting fall of light, and the character of everyday objects that might otherwise pass by unseen. My work is rooted in an appreciation of the ordinary and a belief that beauty can be found in the simplest of moments
