It is a matted Mid-Century French advertisement print for 2 Christian Dior fragrances, “Miss Dior” and "Diorama". Printed in 1953, it had limited circulation which is the reason for its scarcity. The fragrances advertised were Dior's earliest to be launched: Miss Dior in 1947 and "Diorama" in 1948. Both followed Dior’s successful couture “New Look” collection. This iconic advertisement print features the "deux perfums" of Dior. The print is illustrated and signed by Rene Gruau, one of the most acclaimed fashion illustrators of the Mid-Century years. Gruau, with ihis iconic "g" signature, is recognized internationally and is now highly collectible. This image is a prime example of the his propensity for style and flair in MC advertising art. The print originally appeared in a 1953 French couture fashion magazine. It is NOT a rrecent reproduction print. The creative friendship between Christian Dior and Rene Gruau was a collaboration which celebrated a special spirit which continued for many years, even after Dior’s death in 1957. Gruau’s breathtaking use of bold color and strong graphic lines enhance the allure of Dior’s fragrances.
