This english box belonged to captain edward john ward, a royal academy soldier, with a retractable brass handle engraved with the words "capt. E.j. Ward r.a.," and the initials l.s.d. In block letters. The box contains two dark glass bottles, flasks with handles and a stamped silver stopper. The neck of the bottle is engraved with the initials l.s.d., the same initials as the handle. The stopper's hallmarks certify the silver fineness of 925/000 and indicate the sheffield city assay office in 1860/61, made by an unidentified silversmith with the initials h.a.

the brass lock is from the renowned chubb of london. The box is in good condition, except for the green interior lining, which shows signs of wear consistent with its age and use.
