A finely detailed Meiji-period Satsuma earthenware sake pitcher attributed to Gyokushu, featuring exquisite polychrome and gilt decoration. The cylindrical body is densely painted with immortals and Buddhist monks surrounded by intricate brocade-style patterning. Two sculptural dragon handles, one forming the handle, the other the spout, are rendered in raised relief with striking gilt scales and red accents. The lid is topped with a coiled dragon finial.
Classic crackle-glazed Satsuma ware with exceptionally fine linework characteristic of late-19th-century workshop production. A compact yet richly decorated collector’s piece.
