Dreamlike and romantic, this captivating vintage restrike etching titled "Granada" captures the essence of Marc Chagall's (Russian-French, 1887-1985) poetic vision. Originally created in 1962, this impression was printed circa 1968 from the original cancelled plates by The Collector's Guild, Ltd., New York – a respected publisher known for high-quality editions of modern masters in the mid-20th century.
The composition features an embracing couple floating in ecstatic love amidst a fantastical architectural setting with gothic arches, columns, and whimsical elements like animals (including a donkey and goat) and ethereal figures. Chagall's signature style blends tender romance, folklore, and dream imagery, evoking a sense of weightless joy and spiritual intimacy.
This unsigned restrike comes with its original authentication label on the verso from the Société de Vérification de la Nouvelle Gravure Internationale, confirming its legitimacy as part of The Collector's Guild's carefully produced series. It is beautifully presented in professional conservation framing with UV-protective TruGuard/TruVue glass, acid-free double matting, and a distressed silver-gilt wood frame that complements the work's vintage charm.
