This vintage studio pottery jug or pitcher was produced by Krösselbach Keramik in West Germany, likely dating to the 1960s or 1970s. The piece features a richly textured, earthy brown glaze accented with hand-painted abstract geometric forms in muted tones of blue, green, and pink. This combination of coarse clay, tactile surface, and expressive decoration is characteristic of the West German “Fat Lava” movement, a hallmark of Mid-Century Modern design. The jug retains its original manufacturer’s label on the base, further supporting its authenticity and period origin.
Krösselbach Keramik was founded in 1946 in Eberbach, Germany, and became well known for its innovative art pottery forms and glazes. Many of the company’s most recognizable designs were created by Cläre Zange and Karl-Heinz Löffler, whose work helped define the transition
