A massive (24") & rare leaf-form Italian centerpiece tray in a naturalistic design reminiscent of the Italian Grotto Style. Painstakingly hand decorated with polychrome paints in shades of delicate iridescent coral, peach, orange, green, gold with silver leaf. The little insects painted on the surface appear almost 3-dimensional.
A spectacular focal point for a variety of interiors.
Has a stable, flat bottom covered with brown felt.
No markings.
Condition is very good with minor signs of wear consistent with age.
Italian, early 20th. Century. This piece has been well cared for and is a great piece of skilled craftmanship that will be admired by many - including us!.
