This antique Japanese porcelain bowl features classic Imari-style decoration, hand-painted in an earthy palette of iron red, mustard yellow, deep green, indigo blue, and soft lavender. The interior displays alternating folding fan panels and stylized floral motifs, centered by a delicate symbolic medallion, all framed within fine red line borders. The scalloped rim adds visual movement and elegance.
The exterior is finished in a pale celadon-toned glaze with minimalist iron red leaf accents and double blue ring bands at the foot, a contrast that reflects traditional Japanese design restraint. The unglazed foot ring and hand-painted decoration indicate early production, consistent with late Meiji to early Taishō period (circa 1890–1920) export or domestic ware.
Beautifully imperfect, with visible kiln speckling and age wear consistent with use, this bowl works equally well as a decorative object, serving bowl, or collector’s piece for lovers of Japanese ceramics and Imari aesthetics.
