Large and finely decorated Chinese export porcelain punch bowl in the classic Rose Medallion pattern, executed in the Famille Rose … Read more Large and finely decorated Chinese export porcelain punch bowl in the classic Rose Medallion pattern, executed in the Famille Rose palette, Qing dynasty, 19th century. The bowl features alternating panels of court figures and birds-and-flower scenes, all set against a dense green diaper ground with gilt highlights. The interior centers on a round medallion surrounded by lobed reserves, a defining characteristic of Rose Medallion wares produced for the Western market.

Substantial in scale at approximately 15 3/4 inches in diameter and 6½ inches high, this form is traditionally referred to as a punch bowl in Western collections and interiors. The bowl is shown with a carved, fitted hardwood stand, which is included but not original to the piece.

A similar bowl sold at Christies for $5,250, above the high estimate of $3,000 - $5,000. Please refer to last photo.

Condition:
Good antique condition. A hairline crack to the underside/base only, not visible from the interior or exterior walls and not affecting display. Expected minor surface wear, enamel softening, and light gilt wear consistent with age. No chips or restorations.
