Striking vintage art ceramic pedestal bowl created in the 1990s and signed J. Koons, featuring a highly graphic, sculptural silhouette with an irregular, notched rim. The surface is richly decorated with layered imagery and atmospheric coloration, blending soft pinks, teal greens, sandy neutrals, and charcoal tones in an abstract, narrative composition.
The imagery incorporates geometric zigzag motifs, silhouetted animal forms, scattered symbolic marks, and textural spray effects, giving the piece a strong postmodern and contemporary studio-art sensibility. The bowl is elevated on a central pedestal foot, lending it a commanding, sculptural presence suitable for display as a standalone art object rather than purely utilitarian ware.
Executed in glazed ceramic with hand-applied decoration, this piece reflects the experimental spirit of late 20th-century American studio ceramics, where painting, sculpture, and vessel forms intersect. Signed and dated on the underside “J. Koons 1990,” confirming its vintage origin and artist attribution (studio artist, not associated with Jeff Koons).
