Chinese porcelain Buddhist temple plaque seated Kuan Yin, a finely drawn and detailed depiction of a seated Kuan Yin on … Read more Chinese porcelain Buddhist temple plaque seated Kuan Yin, a finely drawn and detailed depiction of a seated Kuan Yin on a lotus throne in ardha padmasana wearing the Crown of Amitabha, with an ornate halo and mandorla, surrounded by stylized ganoderma and protected by The Buddhist Parasol, one of The Eight Buddhist treasures, above amidst heavenly clouds. Both of her hands are holding The Lotus Sutra. Auspicious Buddhist symbols on a smaller lotus throne, supported by heavenly clouds, are below her. All the artwork is done in fine, gilt, line drawing on a black, glazed background. The signature of the artist, "Minister Ding Guanpeng, respectfully, painting", with two small seal marks, is found at the lower right of the image and three larger seal marks are seen at the top of the image. The plaque is mounted in its original, finely carved, Chinese, heavy, huali mu frame with a bronze hanger. The back is intact and removable. Circa Republic of China era or earlier.

Restoration consists of removal of dust and dirt, neoprene strips added at the interior sides of the frame for cushioning, wood frame treated with restoring oils. Excellent vintage condition. See less
