The surface is richly hand-enameled with chrysanthemums, peonies, and scrolling foliage rendered in saturated yellows, blues, pinks, greens, and soft earth tones. The decoration is lively and layered, with organic line work and tonal variation consistent with hand application rather than later transfer printing.
