Chinese framed porcelain Buddhist temple plaque Kuan Yin with a lotus blossom, a finely drawn depiction of Kuan Yin, in … Read more Chinese framed porcelain Buddhist temple plaque Kuan Yin with a lotus blossom, a finely drawn depiction of Kuan Yin, in red and gold, seated in padmasana on a lotus throne, with Buddhist offerings below, amidst heavenly clouds, wearing the crown of Amitabha, with an ornate mandorla and halo, having the Urna, long earlobes, an elaborate coiffure and long, flowing braids, and protected by The Buddhist Parasol, one of the Eight Buddhist Treasures (ashtamangala). Her right and left hands are holding a large, closed, lotus flower at the level of her heart, her right hand in Gyan Mudra and her left hand in Apana Mudra. All the artwork is done in fine gilt line drawing throughout. The signature, "Minister Ding Guanpeng, respectfully, painting", with two seal marks, is carved to the lower right. Three, large, seal marks are seen at the top of the image. The plaque is mounted in its original, Chinese, huali mu frame, made with fine Chinese joinery and a bronze hanger. The back is intact and removable. Circa Republic of China era or earlier.
