Mid-19th Century rendition of "The Stag Hunt." At almost 5' wide and over 3' high, this original oil on canvas painting makes a strong visual impact. Canvas shows typical age related signs of wear including minor craquelure, scuffs, etc. Canvas will likely benefit from a light cleaning which we leave to the discretion of the buyer. One abrasion on upper left side, under middle three birds seen in photos.
Wood frame also shows nicks, scratches to painted surface, etc., typical for age.
The Stag Hunt was a popular subject for Flemish artists such as Paul de Vos ( 1637-1640) who has exhibits in the Prado Museum, Madrid, Spain. A small version of this painting is currently seen in the popular show, "MobLand."
