Wegner “Papa Bear” chair with its corresponding ottoman—both produced in the 1950s by A.P. Stolen—embodies the very essence of Danish modern design. Rare to find as a complete, untouched set, this example retains its original teak “paws,” warm patina, and beautifully sculptural stance that made the Papa Bear an icon of 20th-century furniture. The chair showcases Wegner’s unmistakable craftsmanship: generous wingback profile, finely modeled armrests capped in solid teak, and the organic, inviting form that earned it the affectionate nickname “Papa Bear.” The ottoman, also with teak legs and frame, accompanies the chair in matching proportion and presence. This set is presented in as-found, untouched vintage condition, allowing collectors the opportunity to preserve the original upholstery or to reupholster to their own specifications. The ottoman retains its original internal structure but will require new upholstery, making it an ideal restoration candidate.
