Signed and sealed … Read more Stunning vintage Japanese 4-panel hand painted Byobu (folding screen), depicting a Pine Tree Branch on gold background. Signed and sealed by artist. Watercolor, gouache and ink on goldleaf paper. Silk border. Lacquered brown wood frame with engraved copper corners and medallions, showing age patina. Paper and original labels on back. metal stretcher is included (image 14). Japan, Showa Era, circa 1970s. This screen most likely had one owner, and probably was in storage for decades. Excellent condition - no damage to the painting nor back, minor age wear overall, some age wear on wood frame, strong hinges, clean, sturdy.
