Experience the calming sensation of floating while staying grounded with the MR01 Initial Outdoor Lounge Chair (2021) by Danish designer Mathias Steen Rasmussen. Crafted in Italy, this sculptural chair embodies balance and serenity through its low-slung, triangular frame—expertly constructed without a single screw from solid oiled FSC®-certified iroko, a naturally durable hardwood ideal for outdoor living.
The seat and backrest are hand-woven from nearly 100 yards of high-performance polyester rope, a technique developed by Rasmussen himself to achieve superior waterproof, UV-, and mold-resistant performance. This combination of solid oiled iroko and high-performance rope creates a piece that’s both enduring and elegant, perfectly suited for terraces, patios, and tranquil garden spaces.
Originally designed for lounging and meditation, the MR01 Outdoor Lounge Chair is lightweight, comfortable, and easy to move, merging craftsmanship and mindfulness into one timeless design.
