It was the cover art from a … Read more This is a French print that was created by Pierre Carrier-Belleuse ( 1851-1932). It was the cover art from a French magazine that dates to 1912. Carrier-Belleuse was a French painter best known for his pastels of ballerinas and ballet scenes. His works are auctioned at international art galleries and are mostly in private collections. This image is unusual as it features the rear perspective of a quiet moment between two ballerinas dressed in their dance costumes and ballet slippers and perhaps awaiting their moment to take to the stage. The print has a quiet beauty, an impressionitic quality, and wonderful color. 8 x 10.5 inches in size. Excellent condition.
