A 1969 oil on canvas painting by American artist George S. Coggeshall (1914-1994). Bursts of vibrant color in shades of red, pink, purple, blue, and white make up the composition of this abstract work. Signed and dated to the lower left, the work is displayed in a black frame.
Born in Elgin, Illinois, Coggeshall served as an artist and illustrator for the Navy during World War II in the Pacific. After the war, he returned to Chicago where he studied at the American Academy of Art and the Mizen Art Academy. He went on to become a successful commercial artist working for Meyercord Decal where he had well known clients such as RC Cola, Nehi, and Phillip Morris.
