The figure depicts a smiling waiter dressed in a tuxedo and apron, holding a towel and bottle, a popular novelty barware form produced during the mid-20th century. These corkscrews were made using SyrocoWood, a compression-molded composite of wood powder and thermoset resin developed as an alternative to carved wood.

The head of the figure lifts off to reveal a functional metal corkscrew and bottle opener housed inside the body, with metal components supplied by the Williamson Company. Examples like this were produced primarily during the 1940s–1950s and are well-known collectibles in vintage barware and Syroco novelty items.
