The piece is made of bamboo … Read more This is a fine example of an English aesthetic movement bamboo bookshelf or etagere. The piece is made of bamboo with 4 solid wood (likely oak) shelves. There is nice bamboo detailing on the back and sides, as well as wood ball finials on the top. The piece is unsigned.

The early 1900s era bookshelf is in good antique condition. The shelf is sturdy enough to hold books, but the joints do move, as is typical for these pieces. There is a crack on the top shelf wood loss on the bottom shelf, neither of which impede their function. There are other nonstructural cracks on the bamboo pieces and one of the wooded ball finials. Finish wear on the shelves. Please see photos for more details about the condition of this piece.

The shelf measures 25.25” wide, 10.25” deep, and 47.5” tall. Each shelf measures 23” wide and 8.75” deep. The shelf heights (from top to bottom) are: 9.25”, 10.5”, and 11.25”. See less
