This beautiful set is sold as is and can be restored (one handle has been reattached and one lid is missing). Joseph-gaspard robert (1722–1799) founded his manufactory in 1754. This production belongs to the marseille context of the 18th century, also dominated by the veuve perrin manufactory (marie-rose perrin, active 1748–1803), known for its translucent glazes and hand-painted floral decorations. Their productions shared strong similarities (camaïeu designs, polychrome, gilding, turned forms, etc.). Trained as a painter before running his own manufactory, robert developed a production of faience decorated with polychrome and gilded motifs, reflecting the transition in taste from rocaille to neoclassicism.
