The artist shows the central nave with its coffered ceilings, monumental columns, sculptural niches and gilded ornamentation, all rendered with careful linework and vibrant hand-colouring. The perspective leads the viewer’s eye toward the distant altar and the grand architectural axes designed by Bernini and Maderno, creating a sense of depth and majesty characteristic of early Grand Tour imagery.
