An original watercolor on paper painting by Emily Rose Stanton, British artist 1838-1908, "A Blue Delft Vase" scene of a beautifully painted blue delft vase resting on a carved wooden table top, a lovely very light pink blossom, a bud and foliage are to the right of the vase, a yellow butterfly is to the front, the vase is reflected in the table top, the back board behind the vase is carved with the numbers 166, a monogram "E" is carved into the bottom right corner front, 7" x 5 1/8", on the back of the painting is inscribed "Emily R. Stanton, Upfield, Stroud, Glos., 1877 (?)", on the old wooden frame backing is inscribed "No. 2, A Blue Delft Vase, by Emily R. Stanton, Upfield, Stroud, Gloucestershire". CA number 3982, CA purchased autumn 2025 from a northern English auction house.
The 1" beaded antiqued and distressed gold frame is original to the painting. A new Antique White Museum matboard with gold line, Museum Glass and museum backing have been added to the original frame.
Emily painted animals and still-lives, she had a twin sister. Her address was Upfield, Stroud, Gloucestershire. Seven of her works were exhibited at The Royal Academy, London. Her works hang in The Museum in the Park (Stroud).
