This is a restoration where no expense was spared; every element has been meticulously revived using authentic, labour-intensive techniques to bring the desk back to its finest form. The wood has been French polished by hand, a highly skilled process involving layer upon layer of shellac applied with a polishing pad in circular, flowing motions. This technique produces an extraordinary depth of colour and a rich, glass-like sheen that modern finishes simply cannot replicate. The grain glows through the finish, giving the desk a refined, luxurious presence. The leather top has been entirely hand-dyed. The dye is applied slowly in multiple thin layers, rubbed and blended by hand to achieve beautiful tonal movement and a warm, organic patina.
